Once upon another day of quarantine, I migrated from my bed to the couch to notice the time on my phone was past noon — again.

It was time for another meal but this time, I felt unbeknownst what it should be called. Meal times for me like many were a milestone, an edible sort of sun dial accounting for Day 1022 of Netflix and Anxiety. I mean, Netflix and Chill.

While there is a name for the meal between Breakfast and Lunch, there is no name for the meal between Lunch and Dinner.

One housemate of mine pointed out, we have indeed have Afternoon Tea.

However, this insinuates only tea and for the better occasion a snack — which is disappointing, when I am hungry.

But unlike the meal Brunch eaten and photographed with its usual accompanying characters, “the girls,” there sadly is no doughtier equivalent for the meal predestining Dinner.

Assuming this meal title would be made up of the same mechanisms that made ‘Brunch,’ it would involve combining its’ two timely adjacent meal times.
